First things first: it was a bit of a shock to start under a perfectly clear sky, and then find a big whoppin' cloud waiting behind a bend, and when neither the evening nor the following day saw much improvement I was starting to worry; both the Gáidum and Dievssa valleys are spectacular, but they lose much of their splendor when clouds are low and dense. Therefore the moderately good view of the southern one on day 2 and the subsequent fair morning on day 3 came as a relief – and the somewhat unexpected departure of the cloud cover in that same afternoon was of course hugely satisfying.

It should come as no surprise either that the ascent of Sáŋarčohkka was worthwhile in every respect, with the obvious climax of seeing Sarek shed its cloak. I had hoped that that precise thing was to occur when I started, and regardless if I inadvertently dipped into some ancient magicks I was most happy with the outcome.

As for the final stage, it was good going through southern Čeakčavággi in fair weather this time, and the Jierttájávri shortcut was a nice experience too – Liddubákti "from the back" is (also) an impressive sight.
