I skied up towards the well-visible passage in the steep eastern cliffs of Lulip Muorahisčohkka, having moderate grip on the loose-on-hard type of snow. The wind, which had been quite noticeable at first, lessened the higher I got, and I got warmer as a result. I continued up by way of a shelf extending to my left, which I had also seen from below, and now I saw that the there was a good deal of cloud wads on the other side of the rise – and over Čeakčavággi lay a thick layer of mist beautifully lit by the midday sun. I went on to the crest of the northern outrunner, from where the view down Alisvággi was spectacular, and sat down against a rock with this before my eyes around 11:45.
As I sat there the clouds passed more and more in front of the sun, but since there was virtually no wind up there it was entirely quiet and I savored the moment. After I had eaten I continued up towards the closest summit, adjusting my heading a few times for ease of travel, and reached the top from the east. The subdued light was pretty and visibility was still full, the clouds being high, so I soon went on southwards upon the wide ridge, going up onto the summit proper at 1413 m. As I covered the last bit Norwegian peaks rose in the northwest, and the sun emerged from the cloud front. I just stood there for a good while enjoying the vistas – the Čeakčavággi mists were extraordinary – the peace only broken by the (temporary) sound of snowmobiles, which I assumed belonged to the caretakers doing a run to/past Tjäktja.
When I finally left I first headed straight for the passage, but then turned to follow the slant of the slope as this was easier. The snow was a bit tricky to turn in/on, but I managed without falls. Further down the air was chillier, now that the sun had disappeared again, and the top part of the last passage after the shelf was pure fluff. The remaining bit was also tricky, and the descent wasn't the most graceful I've executed, but as I returned home at 13:45, in a fresh wind, I found that there was no one there to witness it either.
