I got up early, and could immediately verify most of the forecast related by the warden the day before: windy and some clouds. After a standard breakfast, I started rounding Gåsen at around 09:15. I didn't follow the trail for long, though, but instead turned off towards the north, gliding down the slope aiming for Tjallingen down in the valley. Snow conditions were still supreme, so I hardly had to work at all; I could just enjoy the ride, so to speak, and admire the views, feeling no hurry.
Eventually, I came down to the place where the summer trail crosses Tjallingån on a bridge, and soon after that to the bridge over Handölan itself. Just a stone's throw from the latter bridge are the first buildings of Tjallingen, an old settlement. I checked them out, and then sat down up in a snowy slope to have lunch just before 11.
The portion from Tjallingen to Storulvån is mostly flat, and it had the appearance of a prepared skiing track. Not surprisingly, there were no noteworthy events during that bit – I just coasted along at my own pace, and found myself back at Storulvån's station at around 12:30. I sat down outside in the sun, read a bit and had some tea before getting a lift home.
