Sunday 6/8 – part two
On site
I talked with Soili, whom I was to relieve, and her partner Heikki outside for a good while, and then went out with my fresh food items to the spacious earth cellar. They took care of the various visitors that were arriving while I started unpacking my goods and then went down to the water place, where a cold spring fed both a smaller pool for drinking water and a larger one for bathing. I stepped into the latter to have a wash and did not remain for long as it was cold as heck. The weather was entirely clear and nice, but also rather windy. Soili and Heikki were making pancakes, and after a while we all sat down inside to eat.

...over Pältsa
There were quite a few passers-by but just a couple of overnight guests. The wind abated in the evening, which felt very summery. I looked around here and there and read through parts of the on-site material while the others availed themselves of the sauna. The sun passed behind Bealčán resulting in a mesmerizing light, and the temperature dropped appreciably. A sturdy evening snack later the sun returned for a second sunset on the other side of Bealčán, and then it was gone for real leaving a pretty light. Thus ended my first (half) day in Pältsa and I was glad to finally crawl into bed after 22:15.
