As has often been the case of late, other things imposed restrictions on my availability for wardenship this winter, and I was therefore slightly surprised when there arrived in quick fashion an offer of the shorter opening period (about three weeks from the middle of February). The cottage site in question this time was Tjäktja, which I have visited on multiple occasions, but never been the custodian of. I know – and like! – the area very well, so I decided to accept it, even though it would mean lots of cold and darkness, and quite likely very little people due to the early time – and almost certainly very few if any Swedes among those.

Since this was the start of the season there was a warden meet-up in Abisko, but even as I left for this it was unclear just when I could expect to be transported out, although I certainly hoped for the common "on the morrow" procedure.
