Introduction
Having recently procured a new tent, a new rucksack, new boots and a new wind suit, I wanted to do a "trial run" with everything before setting out on the main expedition later in the summer. For convenience, I settled on Oviksfjällen, since it's the fjeld region closest to where I live. I also have a special connection to the area, having spent much time there in the winters as a kid. More specifically, I selected Dörrsjöarna as my target.
I didn't hold back when packing; my intent was to walk with more or less full weight, to see how both the rucksack and the boots would handle it. I calculated that the pack weighed around 16 kg in the end. Due to work and other factors, there was just one weekend in July which seemed suitable for the event, so I geared up to proceed in all circumstances – and, naturally, they turned out to be less than splendid...
Here, then, is the account of what transpired during that weekend. Each section has a header consisting of a short overview of the stage in question, complete with a map showing the route travelled. A ring marks the starting point, a square the lunch break location, and a star the destination. Vertical distances have been calculated from the map and have an accuracy of 10 m.
